St Stephen’s College Academic Senate United Church Representative –
Interested persons are invited by the Alberta and Northwest Conference Leadership Resource Development Committee to consider fulfilling this role.
Mandate of the Academic Senate (in brief)
• Set all academic policies and ensure that academic standards are maintained in the College.
• Insure academic integrity within the programming of the College, monitor academic policies and academic standards through ongoing evaluation, and help provide guidelines and support for consistency in programming.
• Respond to initiatives and concerns of Faculty (including Associate Faculty) who administer academic policies and academic standards.
• Engage with the United Church of Canada and other ecumenical and interfaith partners in assessing the wider needs and concerns of theological education and ministry—acting as their voice to the College. Confer all degrees, diplomas and certificates upon the recommendation of the Program Committees.
The Senate shall meet a minimum of three times each year, with additional meetings at the call of the Chair
Terms of Office shall be no longer than two years renewable only once. The position being filled by LRDC at this time will begin July 1, 2018
In addition to ad hoc committees and working groups, the work of Senate is carried out through Standing Committees.
The main requirements for members of Academic Senate are that they care about the College and the community it serves, and are willing to spend time helping to translate that concern into positive results.
