We have a name! After reviewing all of the names that have been forwarded to us, the Commission recognized a surprisingly clear pattern emerging. Thank you to all who took the time to share your inspiration with us. We are now to be known as “Chinook Winds Regional Council”

General Meeting Dates: June 7 & 8, 2019.
We have confirmed that our first General Meeting will be held on June 7 & 8, 2019 in Lethbridge. The planning team will be meeting this weekend to get down to the business of organizing our time together. We will likely start in the late morning on June 7 and end with a celebrative dinner together on June 8. More details and a schedule will follow… probably in the new year.

Mission Support Grants / Presbytery Grants:
The Regional Commission is receiving grant applications from all those who need a Mission Support Grant, as well as from those who have received significant grants directly from Presbyteries in 2018. Our deadline for receipt of 2019 grant applications is October 15th. Please ensure that your application is complete and that your Presbytery has approved it. Our intent is to have our decisions made for grants by the beginning of November at the latest.

Budget:
We continue to work on creating a reliable and accurate budget for 2019. We are waiting for confirmed figures from General Council before we solidify our decisions. Thank you to all those who have taken the time to respond to our questions about a possible Regional assessment. Responses have been varied: ranging from “Yes” to “Absolutely Not.” We are doing our best to balance what Region members are asking for in services with the funds that we have available. As you look at implications for your ministry, please don’t panic. Remember that there is a cap on the assessment increase that you will be asked for at the General Council level. Once we have accurate information (which we expect fairly soon) we will share with you.

Policies:
We will be looking at policies that will guide our work into 2019. Commission members are reviewing some of the current policies that we live with and will be considering if changes need to be made for our Region.

Calgary Presbytery Learning Day is October 27, 2018. There will be a presentation about Chinook Winds Regional Council, how it will function and an opportunity to ask questions. The Learning Day is open to all churches of our Region to attend.Find more information and register here: https://albertanorthwestconference.ca/16134-register-for-october-27th-learning-day-in-calgary/

Thanksgiving and Gratitude
We are very thankful for all those who have responded when we have asked for opinions. We know that it may seem as though we aren’t moving quick enough on some topics… but we are ensuring that we are allowing time for your voices to be heard and that we don’t rush decisions that are important to all of us. We also feel that we are on track in our preparation for being a new Region. We are grateful for your support and your prayers.

If you have questions for us or have information to share, please be in contact with me 
